Nutrition

Food fuels our body. By eating healthy and clean food we increase the chances that our body will perform better and last longer and we also increase our overall feeling of well-being.

Our Standard American Diet consists of about 54% highly processed food, 32% animal products, and just 14% fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. Since most of us eat what we know/what we grew up eating the result is that 69% percent of adult Americans are now overweight. Our Standard American Diet is leading to an epidemic of chronic disease like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity.

Research has shown that identical twins separated at birth will get diseases based on their lifestyles therefore we are not “stuck” with the genes we inherited; it’s in our control to turn them off and our dietary choices are our first line of defense. By eating nourishing foods you can reverse or reduce the likelihood of chronic diseases.

There’s a lot of information out there about different diets and foods that we should be or should not be eating. All of this information can feel overwhelming since much of it is contradictory, it’s hard to know what to believe. My nutrition recommendations are based on scientifically proven and peer-reviewed research findings. While I will work with you to customize a plan to meet any nutrition goal you have I will generally advocate increasing the amount of plant-based foods in your diet. Increasing consumption of plant-based foods has been shown to reverse or reduce the likelihood of chronic diseases.

My goal is to help you find ways to incorporate healthier eating habits into your lifestyle. I will listen to you to truly understand what your nutrition goals are and personalize a plan for how those goals can best be achieved. I want you to feel empowered with pertinent information and the skills you need in order to turn positive nutrition changes into long-term lifestyle habits. I look forward to helping you integrate foods that taste great, are good for you, and can help you live a longer, healthier, and happier life.
